The Winter Rose-great read

Just finished reading this book. Apparently this must be a continuation to her book, "The Tea Rose", although you don't need to read that first because both books stand alone as complete novels. I first became interested in Ms. Donnelly's books when I read "The Northern...
Just finished reading this book. Apparently this must be a continuation to her book, "The Tea Rose", although you don't need to read that first because both books stand alone as complete novels. I first became interested in Ms. Donnelly's books when I read "The Northern Lights". She writes beautifully, her characters aren't just one dimensional nor two dimensional. She brings so much life to each and everyone of the characters in her books that I could empathize with all of them, even the secondary ones.
I loved this book and could hardly put it down. It was over 700 pages but I finished it in two days.

Not great.

Really cliched. You know, the protagonist is impossibly good as well as amazingly beautiful, she never has an unkind thought or deed, and of course in the end everything works out for her. Yawn; this story could have been told in about a third as many pages.

    Frustrating

Read this for a book club. If you enjoy stories with frustrating twists and turns that remind you of bad daytime soap operas, this book is for you! The Tea Rose was similar in writing style, but not as difficult to get through.

    Not Good

This was definitely a "romance" novel with its hard-to-believe characters and predictable plot line. A little sappy too. Finished, but did skim the last 200 pages.

Had potential of being a good read but too X-rated for my taste.

too sexually graphic. I had it as well as another book by the same arthur deleated from my nook.
