Wisdom of Our Fathers: Lessons and Letters from Daughters and Sons

I wish I could have seen my father in this book.

My father was a difficult person to deal with but I always knew he loved us. Nowadays he would probably been diagnosed with a mental illness. I was hoping for a story similar to mine. However, none of the fathers in this book lived in a world of their own. I loved how all the fathers were Average Joes. For me the book was about what should have been but never was. I'm thankful I learned as an adult what made my father as damaged as he was. Considering all he went through growing up, he was a good father.

Enchanting read

I enjoyed the book and probably read it deeper than most and smiled at the stories told by sons and daughters. I was envious of the closeness shown but happy that some daughters do have a good relationship with a parent. A brilliant idea

What the World Needs, Now.

Plain and simple, this book inspired me to be a better father and reminded me of the debt of gratitude I owe my parents. Russert has done us all a great service by compiling this collection of powerful, life-saving wisdom. Should be mandatory reading for the 'fathers' of our country.

A Father's Must Read

I had previously read BIG RUSS & ME and loved it. Mr. Russert has done a super job of putting together anecdotes from the letters and e-mails he received from thousands of readers of his first book. Every father and every father to be should read this book. All readers would have nothing to lose and much to gain.

I thoroughly enjoyed it

Mr. Russert has written a wonderful book in Wisdom of Our Fathers. I enjoyed this one enough to probably read again this winter when I do a lot of reading. I really liked the variety of being able to read so many different stories all in one book. I must say many of them really touched my heart. You don't have to be a father to enjoy or appreciate this book. I think just about anyone young or old would like this one. And in addition to enjoying a good read of such a pleasant book, this also caused my to think more about my relationships with the people I love. I think you'll enjoy it.

A Good Father Does Indeed Know Best

I lost my father more than 2 years ago to cancer and reading this book has stirred up all the old feeling of what could have been and more importantly, what should have been. The themes expressed in this engaging read are very poignant!

Have a Box of Tissues Ready!

In fact, have 2! The book is an easy read. Every story makes a great point to be shared for generations. I'm sure it wasn't easy for Mr. Russert to select from the 60,000 letters/emails. Only another man with great character could recognize stories with great lessons. This is a great gift not only for Father's Day but for anyone that needs a little comfort that they are doing ok as a father. I purchased the book for a friend, a young father, with equal integrity and character. A gift to let him know that he can stop worrying if he is being a good father. He and his wife are great parents and are good enough to be in that book. I used the intro page to let him know just that! Great idea Mr. Russert ... great book.
