Created in 1941 by William Moulton Marston and H. G. Peter, Wonder Woman at last receives a fair artistic review in a high-quality book without neglecting the writers who have participated in her adventures since her relaunch by George Perez in 1987!
While the magnificent cover artist Adam Hughes is hardly represented, the other artists who have reinterpreted the anatomically-bizarre-but-iconic H.G. Peters' version into a woman "more goddess than human" is the best single place over the last 25 years to get an overview of how Wonder Woman's appearance has evolved. While her costume has remained largely unchanged, her adventures have become less surreal and her foes have become less frightening. Including her first appearance from All Star Comics #8, but also with concept sketches, covers and interior pages, Wonder Woman is shown to have inspired some of the most gorgeous comics' pages over the last quarter century, and that is no mean feat! Was this review helpful?
