    A Wonderful Book

I read this book in the 1950s. After reading it, I was convinced that I too could build a spaceship to fly to the Mushroom planet. I'm 52 years old now and am ordering the book to read again.

THE FIRST NOVEL I ENJOYED READING

I READ QUITE A BIT AS A CHILD, BUT THERE WERE ONLY A SMALL HANDFUL OF BOOKS THAT WERE MEMORABLE. THIS WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE. THE IMAGERY WAS SO WELL DEFINED THAT YOU CAN PICTURE WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE STORY IN YOUR MIND AND FEEL ALMOST AS IF YOUR WITH THEM EXPERIENCING THEIR ADEVENTURE. THIS BOOK WILL INSTILL A LOVE OF READING INTO ANY CHILD. I USUALLY READ THE FIRST FEW CHAPTERS OF BOOKS I LIKE TO MY STUDENTS AND LET THEM FINISH ON THERIR OWN, BUT THIS BOOK IS ONE THEY ALWAYS TAKE TURNS READING TO THE CLASS BECAUSE THEY ALL WANT THE PLEASURE OF FINISHING THE BOOK.

originally read in 1964 never forgotten never will be

I was all of 9 years old when i first this book, I understand that it has become somewhat of a classic, I truly understand why. actually today; i can relate to it on spiritual level. the innocence and trust of not only 2 young boys also the innocence trust, and, willingness to believe of the senior citizen who aided them in the construction of their ship. I will read it again just to remind myself of who I once was and how the idea of helping in spite of peril was once so easy to see and except. I truly wish that someone would get a copy of this book to steven spielberg it would make a fantastic movie

    Childhood Favorite!

I read this book when I was about 10 years old and I never forgot it! The story line is wonderful, captivating, and very original. I remember becoming so engrossed in The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet that I forgot about everything else. It truly is a wonderful flight.

One of my favorites of all time!

I first read this book in elementary school back in the 70's. It was one of my favorites; then I stumbled across it a few years ago in our school library and have shared it with many students who give it high praise over and over.

I can identify with David going to the planet.

It's a story about an old man convincing two young boys to build a spaceship and go help the Basidiumite's(the people on the planet) from dying because of their magic planets on a hilltop were dying and that's what the Basidiumites relied on to live.
