One of the best books I've read, and you'll hate yourself for loving it

A fascinating and morbid ordeal. What makes this book perfect, is not only the clarity, empathy, and authoritative description and research that the author poors in to the crews ordeal, but also how he followed the aftermath of this tragic event. McKee compares the officership of the Medusa, to a smiliar British wreck, examines how it affected governments world wide, and its affect on the art community. In a wonderful public historian fashion he places the wreck and these poor men and women's ordeal squarely in the historical context. He spares no detail, and at times the book becomes hard to read, as you can just imagine the terrible suffering.

I would recommend this book for
    - historians -surivivalists -maritime readers -tragedians -military/naval personnel -art historians -psychologists -people interested in politics
