This book is a wonderful resource for those wanting to develop rich characters full of complex, believable emotions. With numerous examples and handy summary guides and lists in every chapter, Kress has written an excellent resource for any writer's bookshelf.

    Great Help!

I love all the books in this series, each of them are written very well by published authors who know the business. This book is easy to read right through or just flip to a specific section. Kress adds a bit of light humor and her examples are great too. I love it.

    I Also Recommend:

    A good addition

I have read most of the books in the Write Great Fiction series. This book is a good addition to it. I found this book helpful with character development and relatively entertaining. However, it is not the best in the series by far. To be honest, the book on Dialogue helped me just as much with my character development.

At times it seemed like sections were only thrown in because there was no where else they fit. She seemed to have clicked in the middle of an existing page and started typing again merely to add length. Still, overall, it was fairly entertaining and helpful.

If you are only having a bit of trouble here and there with your characters or if you are looking for insight into character development, I would recommend this book. But do not expect to read it and have an epiphany.
