A delightfully fun book to read!

You Aren’t the Boss of Me by Imari Jade, was a delightfully fun book to read. I was intrigued by the concept of the book – Guardian angels, sent to watch over children, usually until they reach puberty. Once the children reach puberty they are not supposed to be able to see, or interact with their angels. Apparently Tanisha was special, because she was now an adult, but could still see and interact with her angel, Daniel, and he still took care of her.

I loved the interplay between Tanisha and Daniel, as well as the relationship between Daniel and the other angels. It was interesting how the author gave the angels a place, the Neutral Zone, other than the traditional heaven, to meet and talk to each other. The angels were also given some very human qualities that made them even more believable in the story.

Since this is an HEA story you know Daniel and Tanisha will get together in the end. What I most enjoyed was how Ms. Jade got them to that point. Tanisha’s relationship with Harry, her admittance that she was a selfish, shallow person and how Ms. Jade portrayed Harry’s family at first set me back. But as the book progressed, I understood why it was written that way and found the author’s style enjoyable. The resolution to Daniel’s dilemmas was also resolved in a way that I found ingenious. This is only the second book I have read by this author, and I look forward to reading more of her work.
