A Fresh and Fun Treat!

This is my second novel by Johanna Edwards and I have to admit that I really enjoyed it. I liked the premis- a woman who works for a "breaking up" company and dumps people for a living (c'mon you all know you wished you had someone like that before!!) and I truely enjoyed the characters. Dani was fun and believeable as a person, and im glad in the end that she founf true love in the mist of her job. Therefore, its one of those fun-light reads that would be perfect for the beach, or by a fireplace with a nice glass of wine!

Great for a rainy day

This book was easy to read and easy to follow. I think it was a great read.

so silly (and not in a good way)

This book was so boring and predictable and just plain stupid to me. I did enjoy her first book, The Next Big Thing, but this was over the top ridiculous. I enjoy chick lit as much as the next girl but I would never put her in the same category as Jennifer Weiner or Sophie Kinsella.

Okay, but not great

I didn't care for this book. Read THe next big Thing by same auther. It is beter than this. I thought it was too silly, and too predictable.

I recently read 'The Next big thing' and loved it, so when I saw that Johanna Edwards had come out with a new book I immediately picked it up. I wasn't disappointed at all. 'Your big break' is a fast, funny, and fabulous read. Dani (I love characters with the same name as me) is a funny and sweet character and Johanna Edwards makes it easy for the reader to root for Dani and hope all works well for her. Your Big Break Inc. is an interesting part and the stories of the break-ups Dani has to do are fun to read. Like I said, this book goes by incredibly fast, I read in a weekend and it is a perfect book to kick-off your Summer reading. So if you're looking for a fast and vastly entertaining book to read, 'Your Big Break' is the perfect book to choose.

Light and Funny

This book is entertaining and cute, but it lacks passion and intensity. It was a good read, but I am glad it's over. The ending was kind of predictable and boring.

pretty good

This was a typical 'chick-lit' sort of book. It was funny, entertaining, light and fast moving. It was a little too light for my taste, but definitely a fun, mindless read.

I loved this book!

I am such a huge fan of this author. I adored her first book and was looking forward to the second. Now, you have to suspend your disbelief a little with this book. Our main character has a job as a break up person. That's right! you can hire her to break up a relationship for you. While, the premise is a little silly, it makes for some absolutely hilarious situations and what I really adore about this author is that while the book is witty and funny, there is warmth throughout the storyline also. Our main heroine is far from perfect and you can feel it throughout the book. She has a hard time 'breaking other people's heart' and as a matter of fact, actually ends up making friends with some of the people she has to 'breakup with'. The book is written in a nice breezy way. There is humour and it is an absolutely fun read. BUY THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The book is a light read and funny, but I was a little disappointed since her first book The Next Big Thing was great.

entertaining chick lit

In Boston, Dani Myers works as a communication specialist at Your Big Break, helping people end unwanted relationships and delivering other disagreeable news for clients. Though Dani is especially great at dumping other people¿s boyfriends and girlfriends, she has no significant other of her own so she turns to the imagined romantic woes of her family and customers in an attempt to play matchmaker and to resuscitate dormant dead relationships as she hates watching stunned in the headlights ¿insignificant others¿ dealing with the ¿five stages of breakup hell¿. --- Her latest interventions have caused her incredible trepidation. The customer Gretchen Monahan wants her to end her romance with the ¿Big Jackass¿, a married man, who turns out to be Dani's dad apparently cheating on her mom. Dani tries to uncover the truth as she plans to intervene with her parents to keep them together. Another client Erin wants to drop a kind hearted schoolteacher Brady whose bank account cannot support her in the style she demands. Dani likes what she hears about the teacher so uses a note rather than in person to end the relationship thus allowing her to enter his life, but she hides her occupation especially how she ¿met¿ him. --- In spite of a too sweet ending, YOUR BIG BREAK is an entertaining chick lit tale starring a caring young woman who seems to be working at the wrong job as she wants to repair broken hearts not ripping further broken hearts. The story line is fun to follow as Dani breaks all the office rules by interfering when she should be in and out leading to a fine relationship drama except for its too simplistic overly optimistic ending. _--- Harriet Klausner
