It's MY last diet because it's the BEST

I started this diet from its earlier version as a web-only program. I ran across it by accident. From the title I thought, 'yeah right.' But I've been on it successfully for a year and 4 months and love it. I can lose 3-8 pounds a month. (fiftyish, 100 pounds overweight, female)
I fit the description of 'sugar sensitive' and have been on just about every other weight-reduction program except surgery, so when I say 'last' I really mean it. It took me 30 years to try everything else and reject it. With this program you first learn maintenance, that is, how to feed yourself to feel good, strong, and able to exercise. Then you tweak your program to lose weight. One way of describing how good this plan is to compare it with others I've tried. It's better than simple reduced calorie - the great support and balance of WW without the starving and cravings from using 'points' to sneak in sugars and whites. The support groups are 24x7 and staffed by knowledgeable volunteers, so if any misinformation creeps in it's corrected immediately. Like having an everpresent WW leader. It's better than low-carb - the clarity and focus without the energy bonks and recurrent binges from nowhere and that nagging feeling that it's unbalanced or unsafe. It's because you're correcting not only insulin imbalances but brain chemicals (serotonin for impulse control and beta-endorphin for addict/binge surges). It's better than lowfat/high carb - the benefits of whole foods, vegetables, fiber, and health without feeling bloated, getting scary weight gain, and being hungry every two hours. So what's the catch? You don't get the instant gratification of 2 pounds per week from day one because day 1 starts maintenance. You don't get the hunger high - turns out that screws up your brain chemicals. YOU have to figure out your own program, using your body's reaction to the steps as you learn. No one-size-fits all sheet. But you have experts available 24x7 to figure this out. So - by far the most rewarding program ever, and also the most work to really learn about your bod. And finally, you have to live it before you can feel the difference. I will never ever go back.

    Great Book, Great Program

Dr. DesMaisons's newest book is truly my last diet book as well as my last diet. In this book, as with her other two, she has written my story and probably yours too! When you read this book you will know that she has a clear picture of who we are, what we need and how to go about getting there. The program is not a quick fix, fast weight loss plan. It works well, when you follow the seven steps in order and don't rush ahead. We all want to lose weight NOW, but by getting really stable on each step first, you will have a lifetime plan to get healthy, radiant and to lose weight. This book will help you achieve these things. I have never stuck to any plan as long as I have this one (almost 2 years) and I can never ever see myself going back. Give the book and the program a chance. You too, will truly find this to be your last diet.

Definitely will be your last diet!

Dr. DesMaison describes what I have been feeling and going through perfectly in her book. Not only does she know my symptoms she also provides an answer. The plan is well balanced and you make changes in steps, very gradually so your body does not suffer. No willpower is require, just a commitment to heal. A very healthy approach to healing the body. I highly recommend this book if you want to get off the diet merry-go-round.
