    Great Cookbook for Everyone

This is a fabulous book, too bad the subtitle is so misleading, i.e., A First Cookbook for Newlyweds, Couples, & Lovers. I was looking for a cookbook for my 65 year old sister, a gourmet cook, and this book is a knockout. We're both visual people and try recipes if we like what the picture of the finished product looks like - this has pictures of every recipe and all the ingredients. Best of all, the first three chapters (pgs. 5-69) are an encyclopedia of cooking, food, and beverage facts, i.e., pictures of 9 types of beans, what they taste like, how they're cooked, what recipes typically use which bean...same for apples, onions, mushrooms, I could go on and on. I ended up getting a cookbook for my sister, myself, and 2 other food loving friends - none of us newlyweds or couples, just good cooks who are deeply appreciative of fine food, and traditional and contemporary recipes.

    Great book for beginners

I recently came to the conclusion that I wanted to start cooking more and eating healthy. Therefore, I went to the bookstore and searched through countless numbers of cookbooks and came across this one. I absoultely love, love, love this book. It's a must have for beginning cooks. It includes step by step illustrations with get this pictures. Woohoo!!!!! Enough said. It shows you how to cook almost everything from scratch, meat sauce, cream sauce, cornbread and countless other things. Everything that I have cooked out of this cookbook has become favorites for me. I recently stopped eating meat and poultry and now only eat fish and wish that it had more fish and/or seafood recipes but it doesn't but that's ok. I'm currently looking for seafood and vegetarian cookbooks now. But overall, great cookbook. I highly recommend it.
