Jim Nantz exceptionally relates his sports stories with his father in his book "Always By My Side". Seeing the care that Nantz placed to his father reminded me of how I care for my father, which is what really clinched the book for me. Being one of the better story tellers in all of sports, Nantz had no trouble relating his life in print rather than broadcast. The true essence of this book is to understand one thing, enjoy your life with the people God blessed you with. Because no matter what, one day you’ll reflect on the impact that they had throughout your life. Nantz accurately describes this through many of his sports experiences. We see his relationships grow as he grows as a broadcaster. The bigger the opportunity, the better his friendships become. As an aspiring journalist, this book showed me some of the brighter moments I can come to expect as a rise up the ranks of broadcast journalism. More importantly, it taught me how to handle relationships, and how to handle curveballs that life may throw at me from time to time. This book is worth the read if you are in need of either a pick-me-up, or maybe a good sports story. No matter the reason, this is definitely a book worth taking a look at.
