This was my first foray into the Charles de Lint books. It is called his most gruesome book and rightly so. However, after the first few pages, the book 'calms down' and reads like any other good fiction. I am glad i stuck it out , because the later parts of the book are pure genius and beauty. I would probably wished to have started with one of his other books, but this is definitely a good read.
