It's been almost one hundred days since a killer disease wiped out 99% of the population. Three months since the dead reanimated. Survivors are few and far between now, and those who remain stick together to give themselves the best possible chance of continuing to stay alive. They are the last of the living.

Must say I felt this book was lacking. The final third of the book seemed to follow a standard adventure outline, 'Need something scary here, need something hair-raising there.' I think Moody just wanted to finish the book, get paid, go home. A main character of the story was unsure anyone would come back for him when he was stranded on the mainland. Really? He had spent nearly a year with these people, was an expectant father, and he thought everyone would just move on without him. So what does he and the small group he is with do--they start a fire and burn down the villiage to signal the helicopter that they are there. Why didn't Daddy-to-be juat go and wait at the place the pilot always landed at? The plot continued to degrade from this point on. I am disapointed that I spent the money on this book

The survivors we have gotten to know from the previous four installments in the Autumn series reach the end of their story in this stunning conclusion. There is a group of survivors waiting out the zombies decay in the remains of an ancient castle, across town another group is stuck in a hotel surrounded by thousands of zombies. Through twists of fate they come together and fight to survive. There is some truly original and thought provoking differences in this book versus your average, shallow, scary story.. This book has substance and is a delicious read. I would highly recommend reading all the books in this series.
