Those who think of singer/saxman Curtis Stigers as a pop
ock artist and associate him with "I Wonder Why" and "Peace, Love and Understanding" will be surprised to learn that Baby Plays Around is very much a jazz album -- not jazzy pop, but straight-ahead acoustic jazz. Not that there is any reason why someone with pop

I first heard Curtis Stigers only a few weeks ago when our local jazz station played the title track, 'Baby Plays Around'. I ordered the CD from www.bn.com and love every single cut. The guy is one super, and quite versatile, singer. As luck would have it he came to a local jazz club (Dakota Bar and Grill, St. Paul, MN) a week after I got the CD. Needless to say I attended the concert.... let me tell ya', that cat can scat with the best of 'em. If you're not familiar with Mr. Stigers style, he sounds like kind of a combination Lou Rawls (sp?) and Harry Connick Jr.

For Curtis Stigers fans like me Baby Plays Around is the perfect album. He has truly mastered his voice. For those of you who don¿t know him, now is the time to become educated. Curtis is a platinum-selling vocalist and saxophonist who has put together an album of time less classics like ¿But Not For Me,¿ ¿Lets Get Lost,¿ and ¿All The Things You Are.¿ Along with these covers Curtis also has a couple of new songs ¿Baby Plays Around,¿ and ¿Love¿ on the album. He is truly in his prime right now as an artist.
