Years of practical experience are demonstrated in the authors approach to maximizing the enjoyment and minimizing the problems common to backpacking. Debates on equipment are minimal and preferential but the options are there. Would recommend to any novice or experienced outdoor enthusiast including Boy Scouts!

This is a book of equipment and methodology or techniques for backpacking. It is excellent in the coverage of the different types of equipment currently on the market. Is is one of the books any backpacker might want on the shelf. If I didn't have nearly two dozen existing books, I am sure I would be raving about the many new insights in the book.
