As I've stated in my reviews of his novels, Scott Sigler is a hell of a writer. If you don't like the Sci Fi horror genre, it's probably not for you.....but his character development and storytelling ability is fantastic so he may be a good introduction to something new for you. My biggest complaint about this collection of short stories is that they aren't log enough. I know, that just sounds really stupid....but it's true. Sigler does a nice job pulling you into each story and getting you involved with the main characters. They simply end too quickly for my liking....but that's the point of a short story now isn't it!!! I'm hoping he develops a few of these into novels. The Red Man is a wonderfully written social commentary....whether he was intending it to be or not....it makes you think. The stories about the NFL Security guys and Hunterson and Sons are right up there with stories like Nocturnal and the Infected trilogy....just a lot shorter. If you're looking for a collection of 20 minute reads to see if you like the author or the genre, this is a great starting point. If you like it, I suggest moving on to Infected, Contagious, Nocturnal....and coming in October, Pandemic. Enjoy!
