Cherokee Astrology: Animal Medicine in the Stars by Raven Hail is the newest version of her book: The Cherokee Sacred Calendar: A Handbook of the Ancient Native American Tradition. This book teaches us a little about the Cherokee Sacred Calendar and shows us how to find our day sign and those of the ones we love according to the Tsalagi (Cherokee) calendar. This book also includes and Ephemeris that goes from 1900 to 2015 to better help us find our day sign. Once we find our day sign we can then go to that specific chapter and learn about the qualities of our specific sign. We are also given the name of the sign in Cherokee, as well as transliterated into English. We are shown the qualities of our day sign along with the direction, flower, color, stone, element, and herb attached to the sign. With the direction it also shows the qualities such as, mine, being redbird, it says, “Direction: West-Dreamtime underneath the tree; portal to the Otherworld; honeycomb of peace and love and life eternal.’ We are also shown the specific challenges facing each sign. I really enjoyed this book and it was actually recommended to me by a friend after I had gotten it. I would suggest this book for anyone wishing to learn about the Cherokee and also those interested in a different type of astrology. I acknowledge that I received this book from Bear and Company Books in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion of the book.
