If you have the slightest bit of interest in what appeals to children at all, you must have read the classic "Polar Express" by the same author. This new book, while originally published as a picture book many years ago, is a fresh face for a very talented author and illustrator. Fortunately the illustrations are also included here, making it a complete package. What makes this so delightful is that the reader gets a taste of many different styles of multiple award-winning authors, including one by Van Allsburg himself. Not all of these authors are known for children's stories, but all stories here I would have no trouble letting my own children read. And here's a mystery of its own: If there are fourteen stories, why are there fifteen authors? I would consider this event fortunate.
