People always wonder where Ellington left off and Strayhorn began. Now there can be a new debate... where does Strayhorn leave off and De Haas begin? This CD matches up two tremendous musical talents... Strayhorn, gone but gaining more deserved visibilty each year, and Darius de Haas, a new talent who, if this CD is any indication, is heading for the stars. Flowing velvet is a good description of his voice. Favroite tracks include his variation on Satin Doll, Lush Life, and Something to Live For. And de Haas' version of Day Dream, in my opinion, is the quintesential version! I hope this remarkable CD brings a whole new generation of fans to Strayhorn!
