Do yourself a favor and rrad Directive 51 first. The author does a great job introducing the main characters and sets the stage for all the action in this one. It can be a little violent at times, but should something like this were to happen, I'm sure it would be a lot worse. Very beleivable (and kind of scary!)

Without rehashing the story like a few have, suffice it to say this was a good, epic read. If the technical details bore you, find something else to read. They definitely are needed in order to understand why technology is at the point it is in the story and the hardships the characters are going through to make their world work. You don't think a meme can take on a life of it's own? How about Kilroy or LOLCat? Don't think people are disenfranchised with the way material things are taking over our lives? Think again. This is a great story and a can't wait for the next book to come out.

This is an exciting technothriller with lots of action to keep you interested. It is well written with a cast of interesting characters that run the gamut in personality styles. In some ways the book is eerie, mainly because deep down you wonder if it could really happen. It is a must read for those who like this genre.

Not a bad book showing the conflict of the human species against an emergent animin AI that is out to eradicate most of the human race.
