I enjoyed this installment of the Coming to America series as much as I did the other books. I particularly like reading about everyday life in bygone days. These stories give you a glimpse into the America during the 1800's. Since each woman characterized in the separate books come from Europe, you also get a feeling for the differences between their homeland and the U.S.

Just enough romance and suspense to keep you reading. I found it hard to lay this one down. Not sure what one of the people meant by saying it wasn't a good christian read.. I found it to be exactly that! As for saying that Beth didn't pray and ask God before marrying.. I got the feeling from reading that in her heart she simply trusted God as well as the feelings in her heart. This was an excellent choice and I am excited to say I have already bought the second book and just as excited to read it! Loved it :)

From a christian perspective, this story was more superficial. Beth accepted Owen's proposal without praying first. Then the Booth boy was permitted to get away with assulting her??? I guess I prefer stories that follow reality more and have a closer walk with the Lord.
