I'm obviously a series junkie. Jenna Black's latest book in her Morgan Kingsley Exorcist series was another book I just could not put down. Morgan is an exorcist (duh) living in a contemporary world where demons are real and people can volunteer to become a demon host. Morgan is called in when demons don't play nicely with humans and commit crimes or seize control of a host without permission. She's one of the most successful and strongest exorcists working in the U.S. today. In the first book, "The Devil Inside", Morgan finds out that she's been unwillingly possessed herself! Moral and ethical mayhem ensues and these books do have quite a bit of violence too. They also feature some pretty hot sex (both homo and hetero, BDSM, etc) yet still have a definite urban fantasy feel to them. Since I like romance, fantasy, and urban fantasy; these books hit on all three for me. Anyway in the second book "The Devil You Know", Morgan again faces some thorny moral and ethical issues with a side dish of family problems to boot! She also became a bit more than friends with the King of the Demons who she is now an unwilling and uneasy host for. Enough of the backstory.

In "The Devil's Due", Morgan has to make one of the hardest decisions of her life...she must choose between friend and family and become complicit in not just allowing, but helping, a demon to inhabit a human. As if that's not bad enough, throw in an illegal possession by a demon, the kidnapping of two human girls, and her own demon, Lugh the King of Demons, is swapping seduction hints with her lover while still trying to seduce Morgan himself!!

I think one of the reasons I enjoy Jenna Black's stories about Morgan so much is that, compared to her, my life is a piece of cake! Each book has a realistic (for that world) ethical and moral dilemma that Morgan must face; and when I read about her decisions and the reasons she has for those decisions, it makes her even more real to me. So if this sounds like something you might like, I can't say more than that I eagerly await each new glimpse Black provides into Morgan's screwed up life.
