This book has answered many questions that I have had about life over the last 50 years. So many things have been answered intelligently, thoughtfully, honestly...from one who truly knew. These topics are just as pertinent now as they were over 50 years ago when they were first introduced. If you intuitively know that there should be more to life, read this book!

You must read the chapter 'What is fate ?'. Just ultimate. You should read it yourself to find out the truth.

Noteworthy is Yogananda's view of Ananda Moi Ma as ideal female, whom he describes as childlike and the ultimate in obedience. Readers of this book might also want to consider reading Verena Kast's "Father-daughter, Mother-son,: which elucidates how an erotic attitide toward God is destructive in the psyche. I have found it best to not limit God to human models, but to be open to loving God (and being loved by God) in truth rather than in fantasy.
