Based on the original manga written and illustrated by Tite Kubo, Bleach is an anime adventure that will surpass your expectations on what an animated series is. The characters are so richly represented that you will forget that they are fictional animated characters. Ichigo Kurosaki isn't your ordinary 15 year old high school student....he can see and communicate with the dearly departed. Ichigo leads an average life with his father and two sisters....that is until a soul reaper named Rukia Kutchkie steps into his life and changes it forever. Suddenly, Ichigo is given powers beyond his wildest dreams and finds himself fighting creatures only seen by him and those gifted with special senses. By the end of Season One, Ichigo will fight for his newly found friend, Rukia and set out on an adventure to save her life. The story is told much better in Japanese with English subtitles (which is available on the DVD set) and is recommended for teens and above. However, you also have the choice of watching in English. The voiceovers are done well adding to the richness and depth of the characters. The animation is second to none....bold, colorful and action filled. You will laugh, gasp and cry with the characters as they come alive in the story. I highly recommend this series for those who love Japanese animation or those who are interested in becoming a new fan. But beware, Bleach will pull you in and you'll find yourself running back to buy the next box set before you know it.

Bleach arrived just in time it seemed as Anime as a genre began to lull or mimic other popular titles. The story behind Bleach is serious, but in good fashion, the series is riddled with wonderful humor. The art is top notch, the voice acting is great, and the main character lovable.
