Jean Peters as Catana stole my heart. I envy Howard Hughes who got to marry her. Tyrone Power is magnificent in his role as Pedro De Vargas. Cesar Romero has made it difficult for me to envision Cortez as any other actor. The costumes and scenery has taken me back to that World of 1518, having me imagine what it was like to be part of that party of Cortez. The music by Alfred Newman, in the last part of the film, has been adopted by the University of Southern California as one of its fight songs. Very thrilling and uplifting. I waited a long time for this film to be released finally in DVD format. If you love historical period movies, you'll love this one.
