There's lots of little treats comic book and cartoon fans alike will notice, including all the villains when a bounty's been posted, the little nods to other heroes that don't appear in the film, and other references to comic book history.

By far, this is the best DC Universe animated movie that's been released up to this point. It doesn't bog down the viewer with an origin story or "meet and greets." Instead, it jumps right into the action, assuming that the DC superheroes have co-existed for awhile and know one another. Lex Luthor has become president and has many superheroes in his employ. Batman and Superman (rightfully) suspect something is up and try to figure out what it is, thereby becoming "public enemies." Not knowing what to expect, I was very pleasantly surprised to see many lesser known heroes make appearances in the movie even if they didn't really say much (Starfire) or were slightly different (e.g., much more timid) from their comic book personalities (Power Girl). The movie was short (just over an hour), but very concise. It held my interest the entire time. I hope DC continues the tradition of providing this type of animated movie that take place within the existing DC Universe for those of us already "in the know." SUPERMAN/BATMAN: PUBLIC ENEMIES is definitely a keeper on DVD for me.

Great joint venture of two of the greatest super heroes. Story line was well put and the animation was first class. For avid comic book readers it was awesome to see new and old villians and super heroes.

This is a retelling of the Public Enemies Graphic Novel and has the look of the new artists. However for voice casting, they returned to the old staples that were established from the Warner Brothers TV series (Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, Clancy Brown) These three voice actors have established themselves as the standards people expect to hear from the characters, yet seeing the newly drawn characters can through you off. The plot is one that progress naturally from many tales in the DC Universe (comics and TV shows) and really brings to light what is the relationship between Superman and Batman who have two radically different views on how to best serve justice. Through in the wry humor of Lex Luthor and the entire thing begins to blend. While not my favorite of the recent DC Universe films, it does have as good story, and several Justice League episodes as well as a dinner conversation with Conroy, voice casting director Andrea Romano, Bruce Timm, and one other DC VP that is insightful to Conroy's 20 year career as the voice of Batman.
