This is a brilliantly acted and directed film. All the leads, and even the supporting cast, give riveting performances. Fred MacMurray is particularly good as a shallow officer who starts the mutiny but refuses to take any responsibility. Humphrey Bogart gives a performance completely different from any of his private eye roles. If you have ever wondered why Bogart is considered one of the great actors of our time, this film will be your answer.
