“Eurail Pass Roulette!” is an imaginary travel game invented by the author, who is a retired journalist and travel writer. He is a former member of the Society of American Travel Writers, and his areas of travel writing were the American West and Eastern and Western Europe. This game can be imagined by the “armchair traveler”—or actually played by someone who has enough money and time. The rules are simple: First, you buy a two-month Eurail Pass, useable for first-class travel on European trains. Then you fly to Europe and begin to play the game: Visiting cities and towns on an alphabetical basis, in which you never know what the next town is going to be until you get to the train station. This is for people who are challenged by the idea of not knowing ahead of time where they are going to go—or where they are going to stay.
