Ask your doctor about belly fat. You will learn about a special kind of fat that resides deep within your torso. This so called `visceral fat' is the kind of fat that is the most difficult to get rid of. Not only that -- too much of visceral fat is also dangerous to your health.

The co-author of the book, Cynthia Sass, has developed a "belly-shrinking eating plan that is grounded in the latest and most credible science and offers the most filling, satisfying, and delicious meals that you will ever have the pleasure of eating." However Liz Vacareillo's vision went beyond food. In her book she proposes mental tips, tricks and strategies that are designed to inspire, motivate, and "set you up for a better relationship with food for the rest of your life!"

The Flat Belly Diet Program takes 32 days and it is divided into two parts - the Four-Day Anti-Bloat Jumpstart, and the Four-Week Eating Plan. These 32 days is just enough time for one to make appropriate dietary changes leading to a new lifestyle. After you learn the program and observe desired changes in your body, Liz gives you the tools to keep your belly flat for the rest of your life.

The program is not only about getting your body to fit your desired dress size, but it is also (and especially so) about feeling confident, powerful and proud of you body. Essentially Liz offers to her readers to adapt a new way of living. And this is what appeals most to me. The new lifestyle that results not only in a flat belly, but that also has a detoxifying effect and lets you live healthier and longer. This is a good continuation of the idea so well presented in "Can We Live 150 Years" --Your Body Maintenance Handbook" with a few chapters specifically devoted to dieting programs and body cleansing. To properly understand how your body works and to get the most of the program I suggest reading "Your Body Maintenance Handbook" BEFORE "Flat Belly Diet."

My husband and I are finding the "Flat Belly Diet" easy to follow and it has food you really want to eat. We have only used this book a month and I have lost 12lb and my husband 15lb. It has sugestions for the times when you have to grab a quick lunch from a resturant. Also if you get the "Flat Belly Diet Cookbook", you get all the tools you need to lose weight and keep it off. Both books are great! This one really works and it is balanced.

I began the FBD on 1/10/2009. To date, I have lost 12lbs and 6.5 inches around my stomach... and I am continuing to lose the weight! This diet, no, lifestyle augmentation has made a dramatic, positive impact on me and my family. I would reccomend the FBD to anyone who has had ENOUGH!!! For me, after having two children, my body was SCREAMING for a wakeup call. My "ah-ha moment" appeared to me when I saw a few pictures of myself at a wedding. I looked H-U-G-E! I saw the diet online, and looked into it. It wasn't until my doctor suggested it to me, when I purchased the book online... it's cheaper online! The first four days aren't a cake walk, but, hey... it's only 4 days!! HELLO??! Totally 'do'able. And, if you can get some exercise in 3 times a week-- or more-- then weight will melt off of you. The food is wonderful and low sodium and filling. The sassy water is refreshing, no matter how daunting the ingredients are. You can get super creative with the recipes and snacks. I suggest doing the diet with a buddy as well as journaling, as corny as it sounds, EVERYTHING you put in your fat yap! Let me stress one thing: YOU HAVE TO WANT TO LOSE THE WEIGHT! WANTING and WISHING are two different things. I am still working at this, and my goal is to lose 30lbs. I am nearly halfway there. Buy the book if you are ready to be thinner and healthier.

There is some good information in this book, but please know that it is definitely targeted at women. What particularly disappointed me is that the calorie counts in the book - for the 4-day Flush plus the 28-day diet itself - are calcuated for women. The book states that men can find their equivalent calorie counts on the website, flatbellydiet.com. I went to the website but the information wasn't there. When I emailed the company for help, I was told that they didn't have the male calorie count information, and they recommended I buy a different book. Not cool!

For years, I have been looking to rid myself of all this belly fat. It's just hard. So, when I came across this book, I had to have it. Of course, it's not that revolutionary--eat more grains, etc.--but it does have good points to make and it makes them well. You have to take control of your situation and get it under control. So, therefore, if you are looking for a quick fix, this prob. isn't it. However, if you want to invest time and effort, this can work.

I was unhappy with my weight and saw an ad for 'The Flat Belly Diet.' I tried it and have lost 12 pounds. It's all the foods that I like to eat anyway, but the book shows you how to put them together into 400- calorie meals. It gives you exercise options, too, and a food journal. I'm giving copies to some of my friends for gifts.

Unlike a lot of other diet/health books, this was one was an easy read and simple to understand. It is full of basic things you need to know to stay healthy. It's information you can use for the rest of your life. Along the way you'll find boxes to the side with interesting facts... a lot of them are motivating! That's what the entire book seem to be, full of educational health facts you need to know and that is also motivating! There are lot of recipes in here and very easy to follow! I'm not a cook and I found the recipes easy to follow. The ingredients are not expensive either. There is a 4-day anti bloat plan, it's a great way to start your healthy kick and it's something you can do more than once. After holidays, during/before your menstrual cycles, wanting to shed a 2-3 pounds quickly, etc.

I was looking for a diet that would make me feel better - I was have a lot of pain in my joints, which I thought was due to inflamation and water retention. I also wanted to improve my health and lower my blood pressure. I love the fact that it is all about eating whole / organic foods. I am also a firm believer that all the preservatives in our foods are having a negative effect on our bodies. They may interact with our hormones and have an effect on our fat cells. As a woman in menapause I did not want to just accept that because I was older I would get plump because of my hormones etc. I have been on the diet for 6 weeks now and have lost a total of 10 lbs and 6 inches. I feel like I have a new lease on life. It is not so much a diet as a change in eating habits forever! I am thoroughly enjoying all the recipies and when I don't have time to cook I find something that I can easily put together and I always include my MUFA!

Just another diet book with a few nuances trying to make you believe there is a magic formula. If you eat a healthy diet going into the FlatBelly diet, then you do not see the miraculous results claimed by the models in the book. A word of advice - do not go to the website. Even if you do not register, you receive annoying e-mail messages soliciting you to buy additional products. The authors are using "diet expertise" to further sell other products.

Another way to lose weight. Written simple and effective. My friends and I having success with this book and Weight Training Workouts and diet plan by James Orvis. I think if people added weight training(the right way) to their fitness and weight loss goals they would be amazed. My 4 girlfriends and I have lost 9-18lbs each since starting. We are believers and loving it!!

Good factually, but get boring really quick. Needs to be in more direct easy to understand language. Possibly too fanatical.Bought it because I saw it on Doctors TV program. I need a tutor to comprehend this book

When I got through the first few chapters, it started to remind me of all the other diet books. Some of the ingredients for the belly fat loss eating plan are hard to find and expensive! If no one else in the house is doing it, you have lots of leftovers (also if noone in the house likes Avacados, etc...)!! I will get back to you after I have tried the full program.

My daughter and I both decided we wanted to try out this book with the motivating title. I really NEED a flat belly, my daughter pretty much has one, but she has just a little pooch. We both started this program with different goals in mind. I am looking to lose 30 pounds; she was looking to lose 10. We began the 4 day anti-bloat program, and I will say that it was pretty doable, but 1/4 cup of sunflower seeds on cereal is a lot of seeds! We made it through the 4 days and I totally lost interest. For the life of me I could not get motivated to pick from the menus they had listed. My daughter continued with the program for another 4 weeks. She said she liked how she felt, even though neither one of us had lost any weight. Even at the end of the 4 day anti-bloat we had not lost any weight or inches. By the end of 4 weeks, "L" had only lost 3 pounds and a total of 2", and believe me, she followed this plan religiously! I on the other hand, could not get into it. The one thing we took away from it was adding nuts to breakfast items, and the sassy water. We still drink that as we found it very refreshing.

I loved it! I recommend this diet to anyone who is ready and willing to make a change in their lives. It has definately helped like no other diet has.

This diet book allows you to learn how to eat healthy as a lifestyle change, not just a quick-fix diet. The diet allows you to satisfy your cravings (chocolate, etc) and contains recipes and daily meal plans that are flexible and easy to follow. Most recipes can be made in 5 or 10 minutes. The meals are filling and taste fantastic. This is a great guide for what products to buy and what to look for on the labels.

Just another diet book in my eyes. Drink this water, eat these foods, etc. Nothing spectacular and no real recipes that were of use.

This is a great diet, and the book provides exact steps to follow it. The book also has a space for journaling, a super index, motivational segments, and lots more. For anyone who wants to try this diet, I would sincerely recommend this book.

Learn how your body digest and how your body uses the foods depending on what you eat and how you eat.Very educational and useful information on how to adjust your eating habits and food choices.helpful.

The Flat Belly Diet isn't your typical weight loss program. Since it targets the excess fat that lingers around your waist, it doesn't go after it how you might expect. From MUFAs at dinner to changing your attitude, the book shows you how to use workouts and diet to trim your waistline over a 32 day period.

Another book I enjoyed this week that a friend recommended to help me with emotional eating is The Emotional Intelligence Quick Book.

I started this diet 4 days ago and I have lost 6 pounds. It is strict at first and looks like it becomes more relaxed form here on out. Good luck all.
