This series has me hooked! It is in my top three favorite series. Along with Twilight and The House of Night series. This book left me anxious. The last page is a cliff hanger and if "Bite Club" was out I'd be purchasing it now but I have to wait a month. If you are thinking of reading this series DO IT!!! It has love, adventure, and problems a girl faces everyday plus once you couldn't even concieve! Claire is such an amazing character and Rachel Caine write so amazingly that ou feel like your right there with her characters! Some of it was so intense I would jump if I recieved a text message while reading it!

This series is great and each book gets better and better; not to mention that it doesn't take years for the next one to come out.

OK, what is up with all these villains and taking no consideration over what their humans subjects do for them? I mean, you would think after all the crap that Claire went through in saving this town of vampires they be a little sympathetic towards her right? Wrong. After only trying to protect herself, Claire is in deep trouble. Amelie, faced with angry vampires is trying to make things right for everyone. Claire is punished by sentence to work, with no sleep, no breaks, until she gets the machine working again. After it is done, things start to go haywire. Claire's punishment, to my belief is cruel. I understand you want her to work, fine. But with no sleep? No breaks? How is she supposed to make a machine run if she is dead tired. Plus, they left her down there with a bat-craze vampire! During this section I was biting my nails. Poor Claire couldn't even move her legs. Its no wonder that stupid machine went haywire. The after effects was just weird and heartbreaking. People were forgetting who they were and slowly forgot who Claire was. She was running out of time and running out of people for help. I felt for Claire. Claire was running around trying to help people and people had no idea who she was. When Shane forgot, it broke my heart. I wanted nothing more but to make everyone remember to ease Claire's pain. Even at that, Claire stood strong, tugging along finding a way to fix the machine. In the end, lives were lost and memories where put back in place. But not with the effects already taking its toll on the town and all because of one person. I won't name them. But this is one person that I really enjoyed as a character and what they did, ugh. It just hurt me. Once again Ms. Caine has done it again with her fabulous writing. The Morganville Vampires series is one that I can read over and over again without getting bored. All of her books are filled with great entertainment and non-stop fun. Her characters always bring a smile to my face. And I can always get lost in Morganville. (As long as Claire finds me.) LOL!

A very old vampire Amalie founded Morganville, Texas as a refugee where vampires and humans can live together, but the Undead are at the top of the food chain. After a battle, the safeguards that protect the vampires are broken and humans can leave the town with their memories intact because the machine hooked to a brain was destroyed. Myrnin the semi-sane vampire who built the first bio machine has to reconstruct a new one from scratch. His assistant Claire refuses to use a brain to power the gizmo, but she helps her boss create one. The problem is that the machine is making humans and vampires forget the last three years of their lives. Myrnin's password protects the machine so Claire can't unplug it. Although she is human, Claire feels strongly she must find a way to pull the plug before Morganville is destroyed. Rachel Caine's latest Morganville vampire thriller is awesome as the Undead are held in check by Amelia's rules until the machine breaks down leading to a leadership challenge of the matriarch. However although that is powerful theme enabling fans to look closely at what happens to a culture when a key control fails, the action focuses more on the traditional vampire stalking humans for psychological reasons. Young adult fans will enjoy this entry and the entire series as this time local vampire civilization loses a primary restrictive barrier leading to over indulgence. Harriet Klausner

I wanted to read this one because it has been my personal pleasure in the last of 2014 (read this one end of December). I love the vampires, the relationship between our main character Claire, who is wicked smart and able to roll with the punches, and her hot boyfriend Shane. It has been heating up a lot and I love each book where they become closer through shared experiences. The mad scientist Myrnin is always fun and surprising to read about. The leader of the town Amelie and 2nd in command Oliver always are mysterious and their motives and goals seemingly ever changing. I love the plots and has been so fun to read.     The plot and pacing in Ghost Town did not disappoint. I read half of it in one night and would have read more if my meds didn't knock me out like a blow to the head. Claire finds herself in horrible situations again with impossible choices. It really tipped the power, and made her doubt if the new gained freedoms were all for show. And then the unthinkable happened and I was like oh my gosh. We learned so much from this one encounter and I felt such at a loss because some of the things that I thought wouldn't change in the series did.      Claire shows her raw intelligence and will power to survive and protect her friends once again in this one. And I keep on admiring her ingenuity, and loyalty.  We get to see to the heart of some of the characters when their memories are stripped three years. We see their actions as they struggle to deal with the losses that they are feeling all anew, the people they are now surrounded by where the relationship dynamics have changed if they even remember them at all.      Most of all though, the theme of redemption ran through this one. There are some sacrifices I never saw coming as well as alliances formed that aren't really expected. The action and character development was non-stop and it kept me entertained and engaged.      The ending was shocking and even though I probably should have seen parts of it coming, I didn't and when I reached the last page, I immediately wanted the next book in my hands. Bottom Line: Beloved characters facing all new challenges and range of emotions

Although the plot was enjoyable, I figured at the very end that I just knew what was going to happen. Boy, did I have that one wrong and I'm still whirling from it. With the town suffering a form of amnesia off and on, this book kept you guessing. I loved every minute of it.

This volume in the Morganville series might possibly have had the most emotional affect on me. Without giving too much away (I hate spoilers in reviews) imagine if the people around you were slowly forgetting they even knew you! Vampires may be scary, but I think that would just be so horrendous to live through. The story really pulled at my heart and invoked a very emotional response. I felt my heart breaking along with Claire and it was a very real feeling...as if it was me living through that. It's a talented writer who can get a reader to truly feel that connected to their characters. With each installment I seem to like this series, this world and it's characters even more.
