I bought this book thinking the hats in it would be really fun. I suppose they are if you like to so a lot of colorwork. I don't even know how to knit half the patterns in this book. The charts and patterns looked pretty well written, but I was very disappointed at the lack of non-fair isle patterns.

Instructions are clear so that a knitter with just a bit of experience can work their way through the projects. I really like that the patterns are written for several sizes. You can make matching hats for a family if you like. I bought this book because I needed a basic watch cap pattern (which was surprisingly difficult to find in other books). In addition to the watch cap, I've knit other patterns from this book. My daughter loves the star crown cap that I knit for her. I really appreciate that the publisher used a type font and size that are easy to read. So even if you are knitting while watching TV with the lights turned down (my usual mode), you can still read the patterns!
