How I Met Barbara The Zombie Hunter

2.5 4
by Raymund Hensley

Yes, there are zombies, even in Hawaii. A foolish, lonely writer learns this the hard way from a beautiful woman who claims to be a hunter of the living dead. (Note to self: Next time, when a stranger on the internet wants to see you, just say no.) A horror comedy novelette.

Most of the novella is hard to understand given the author's penchant for speaking in nonsensical phrases. The writing is truly terrible. Nothing means anything to anyone here. They speak in crazy phrases that only the other characters can understand. The reader is an outsider who is watching crazy people doing and saying crazy things in beautiful Hawaii. That is unkind. Perhaps this book was translated from a few other languages. Then, finally, it was written in English. But, even that does not explain the nonsense coming from the character's mouths, let alone the nonexistant plot. The strange turns of phrase are perplexing. This is a horribly written novella. It is not worth your time to read this 100+ page book. Do not waste your time or money. Instead, read a good zombie book like "World War Z" by Max Brooks. -AvidReader
