Exceeded all expecations....

Jane drops this earth-shattering story in our laps, and it far exceeds any expectations. A must-read; sure to be a chart-topper! Cudos, Jane!

Too self righteous

The bits about Alcoholism are good enough. However the rest of the book trails into a self righteous preachy rant about just about everything. Also, I don't understand how someone can be working the AA program yet live a life where she takes the inventories of people ...Read More

Honest and heart-filled but lost interest

The book iWant is a heart-filled story of a woman, Jane Velez-Mitchell, and her personal struggles with addiction. Jane reveals that throughout her lifetime she has had a variety of addictions and obsessions. Throughout the story, Jane dedicates each chapter to an individual obsession or addiction she has experienced. Also, she incorporates encouraging and uplifting chapters giving the reader advice as well as an insight to her current outlook on life.

The story of Jane Velez-Mitchell is intriguing in that it starts from her childhood influences (her parents) and progresses all the way to the development of her thoughts after recovery. Jane first struggled with alcohol addiction, which then triggered a variety of other addictions such as work and sugar. She also tells the story of how she came out as gay and her beliefs towards animal activism. iWant is a story that allows the reader to connect with the emotions Jane has gone through in her lifetime.

Although this book is honest and heart-filled, Jane seems to repeat her opinions and thoughts numerous times throughout the story. Jane's personality is very quickly developed early on in the book, which makes the rest of the story somewhat predictable. Personally, after the first few chapters of the book I lost interest because psychologically I understood Jane's thought process. In the future, I would not recommend this book to anyone unless they have struggled with similar addictions themselves.

Great Book - one of those "Can't put it down till I'm done" kind!

I was so looking forward to publication of this book, and was not at all disappointed when it came out. In fact, it is better than I expected.
The book would be interesting and helpful even to people who do not watch Jane every day, which I do. I learned more about her and more about myself through the reading of this book.

iWant her to stop writing. This book was less enjoyable that a botched Afghan histerectomy. I would rather be fed a casserole of Ron Jeremy's body hair and roofing tar than re-read this book. The author is clearly delusional. Even her haircut angers me. Pure garbage, she should personally apologize to every tree harmed in the making of this book.

    Honest & Insightful

A well-written and engaging read. Gives an insightful and honest perspective on the addictions and compulsions that we all struggle with. It reminded me a lot of The Disease of More by Eleanor R. Definitely worth a read!

    Wonderful book

This book changed my life. It made me start opening my eyes in regard to the environment, eating habits and much more. Thanks to Jane for opening up and telling her story about recovery and daily struggles.

A side of Jane that might surprise you!

I remember Jane Velez-Mitchell as a TV news reporter in New York.
If you want to find out asbout courage, brutual honesty, and a woman that knows a deeper truth about chnge than read this book.
If someone you know is going through a rough patch, buy them a copy of this book.
The hardest thing to do is to ask for help when that is something you give and not readily receive.
The first step is admitting you need help and then go ask for it.

    It was Ok

It started out as an OK book then it just seemed to drag on and on. I actually didn't finidh it and just set it up on my bookshelf. I admire her for all she has been through and it might have just been me that couldn't seem to get into it enough to finish it.
