Once again Beth Ciotta writes a book that's a combination of sizzling romance, fun, and humor--plus a whole lot of adventure! I rapidly turned pages as Ciotta pulled me into the book with great characters and suspense. The scenes between the hero and heroine were romantic and the sexual tension was perfectly written. I loved the archaeological mystery that was part of the plot. Don't miss any of Ciotta's books if you want to read a romance that leaves you smiling!

This was a cute read. One of those you can read quickly, lose time and end with a smile on your face.

I loved this book. I had several of this author's previous books, including the one that precedes this story, called Out of Eden, and I have enjoyed each book more than the previous ones. Beth's stories are much fun to read with plenty of suspense, plot twists, danger, romance and enough sexiness to elevate my blood pressure a little bit!! If you like stories about interesting women finding their own way through life on their own terms, then this book is one to read.

Good thing that I started reading INTO THE WILD by Beth Ciotta on Saturday. I could not put it down until I read the last word of this book at one-thirty in the morning. River Kane is a petite blond germophobe who works as a wedding photographer. But don't let the looks fool you. She manages to survive being neglected by her archeologist father and left at the altar by her fiancé. After receiving her father's cryptic journal and a note that he's in great danger, she has the guts and the heart to fly to the Amazon to look for him, armed only with GPS, hand sanitizer, bug spray, and her camera. Intriguing enough, her father hints that he's found a hidden treasure and warns her to beware of the hunters. That is exactly what Spencer McGraw is. He is a treasure hunter and a sexy host of a popular TV show Into the Wild. Spencer was first introduced in OUT OF EDEN as a brother of the main heroine Kylie, and I'm glad Ms. Ciotta thought he deserved his own story. Though reluctant at first to accept Spencer's help, River has to accept him as her guide because unlike many others he is not afraid to go into a dangerous region. But how can she trust him with her secret if he thrives on PR and fame? Not to mention that apparently he is nursing deep emotional wounds that have a tragic connection to the place of her destination. Somewhere between falling for him and being shot, lost, and left without her GPS and hand sanitizer, she has to figure that out. That is if River and Spencer are going to survive long enough not to let a mysterious killer get to the treasure first. "Wild" in the title is highly appropriate as the story takes the reader onto the wild ride filled with fun, adventure, and scary situations that are probably better lived through vicariously. Like other books by Ms. Ciotta, INTO THE WILD is often hilarious and always worth reading.

In Maple Grove, Indiana photographer River Kane has no time to mope over her fiancé jilting her at the altar for being conventional. Her father's journal arrives from South America with a strange cover note in which he enigmatically says he sacrificed his life for the accompanying gold amulet. She quickly heads to South America to find her father. An obsessed cleanliness neurotic with a phobia of germs, River remains resolute in finding her father though he will not expect her as he assumes she is a sissy. Her trek leads her to Cajamarca, Peru where the brother of her friend Kylie (see Out of Eden), TV commentator Spenser McGraw, who hosts the show Into the Wild, learns his latest venture was cancelled. He seems to prefer thwarting her efforts, which enhance her doubts about him as she needs stealth and prudence while he needs PR. She tries to keep him from accidentally deploying an alleged Inca curse that targets those who go after ancient treasure; her fear being he will trigger locals and treasure hunters. Modernizing Romancing the Stone, this sequel to Out of Eden is a fun romantic adventure thriller starring two apparent opposites who fall in love while traveling Into the Wild. Fast-paced though a bit over the top of the Andes, fans will want to join the trek of River and Spenser as they fall in love while trying to find her missing father. Harriet Klausner
