Overview

When young wizard James Quill lives through The Great Wizard World War, he thinks he has it made. Although war claimed his friends, he survived. His wrecked, flying Harley is returned to him de-cubed and better than new.

But he wonders just how ”over” the war truly is when he is sent into The Wizard Protection Program by The World Wizarding Federation and the U.S. Enlightenment Department (U.S.E.D.). Bucksnorts School and Home for the Wizarding Arts and Sciences is the armpit of the magical universe, hidden in a long and best-forgotten cavern in western Virginia. Drawn into a dangerous plot against his will, he has been sent into oblivion, but will it alone save him?

Tortured visions haunt his nights and torment his meditations. Are these scenes fated premonitions of a gory death at the hands of his vanquished enemies, or do they reveal that he is losing the only thing a wizard ever needs: his mind? Quill also manages to make a new, Native American enemy, a vampire/shaman and master of dark sorcery who makes his old enemies look quaint. Will the curses of the dark mages, long-dead find their mark with The Black Javelin or will it be the vampire/shaman who will take a pitiless revenge?

Go on an international adventure of magic, treachery and mayhem as James Quill, wizard and young master of the magical martial arts becomes embroiled in a plot of love and hate, armed with only his talent for survival, the love of a Native American shamaness and the courage of a warrior’s heart. Read how he becomes the nexus of three great wizarding traditions, conjuring knowledge from all in his quest. Be there as he learns the hidden and forbidden knowledge only known to wizarding adepts.

Writer and artist, B.B. Richmond has included 11 illustrations, including a map of the Town of Buckbilge and Bucksnorts. James Quill: Wizard of Fortune is often humorous but always intense, with spies, sorcerers and treachery around every corner.

About the Author

B.B. Richmond was raised in a log cabin the woods of Huntington, Long Island, NY by wolves. As a former feral, parochial school kid, she knows what evil, terror, torture, and jackbooted mindbenders with weapons of death and destruction really are. An artist born, she learned the writer’s martial arts and to wield her keyboard with daring, wit, sarcasm and dramatic irony. As an adult, she pricks the giant hot air balloons of “normal” society, and draws pictures of their pain.

She will fight courageously for the last chocolate anything.

If it is magical, fantastical, psychic or just, plain weird, Richmond has either read/studied it, been there and seen it, been there and done it, put her finger in it or run like heck from it (sometimes all of the above). She brings to her artwork and writing a lifetime of useless knowledge and an imagination second to none. She has been a counter-intelligence liaison for the U.S. Enlightenment Department (U.S.E.D.) and now works as the Chief Visionary Officer for Bucksnorts Home and School for the Wizarding Arts and Sciences. B.B. lives with her husband and two editorial cats in an undisclosed location in a high-carb state, where she enjoys being young and thin, in comparison. She is currently working on a device that will weaponize chocolate for world peace. She reports no progress in her experiments, but since happiness starts with oneself, she reports great strides in that area.
