"Let My People Go Surfing" was recommended to me after a conversation with a friend about how I quit two seperate jobs where I held artistic positions that seemed like a dream. Both companies made products where the environmental impact was ethically questionable and made my soul ache. I wanted to find solutions but the companies involved were unwilling to spend any time or money towards remedying the problems since they were still fairly small.(One with under 200 employees and another under 600) After reading this book I have a renewed sense of hope that it is possible to find a company that cares about the safety and happiness of it's employees as well as it's impact on the environment. Yvon Chouinard's business ethics are beautifully inspiring. Since reading it I have implimented a "Flextime" program in the company I currently work for that allows me work with other artists in a painting group, while my co-workers are pursuing their hobbies and activities. Our already "green" company is a happier, more well rounded, and interesting palce to be as we share our stories of how we spent our time. Many thanks to Mr. Chouinard!
