Barnaby has created characters (Brian, the protagonist, in particular) so real that the reader feels that he knows them personally, intimately. We feel Brian's emotions, and we get caught up in his life story because she's written it so well. This book is an excellent seqiel to the first book in this series. The story is tight, the characters well-drawn and realistic, and the plot twists leave one hardly wanting to put down the book. If you started with the first book, read this one, then I dare you not to grab the third as quickly as possible.
