I first read this book in first grade and I continue to read it to my cousins as a senior in high school. My favorite book of all time!
Great story for young children with lessons about friendship and forgiveness.
In short, Matthew and Tilly are the best of friends who do everything together. After spending so much time together, they have a fight and need some time apart. A short time later, they realize how much they miss each other and forgive one another and the resilience of their friendship returns. I love using this book with my students. Its a perfect text to use when talking about themes within a text. Children can understand having an argument in a relationship. Its a great book to show that relationships can have ups and downs, and how we can forgive each other.
