While Elkind's general premise that kids should not be pushed to do too much academically or physically before they are developmentally ready is good, some of his information is very outdated. He derides a home computer as being pointless with no practical use, so he obviously had no idea how the internet would revolutionize the world. He also bases all of his studies of child development around school and dismisses the thought that homeschooling would ever become a significant movement.
