Mr. Darcy's Great Escape was a disappointment. Marsha Altman's other books with the characters from Pride and Prejudice stayed true to the characters created by Jane Austen, but in Mr.Darcy's Great Escape, she took a turn to the dark side, and had all the original characters from P & P doing and saying things that were so out of character, it's a shame she didn't change their names so someone, such as myself, wouldn't buy the book in hopes of enjoying the escape to 18th century England with Darcy and Elizabeth at Pemberley. Very disappointing.

This is book 3 of a really involved, bumpy series. There are hysterically funny moments, hardly believable moments, and waaayyy out there moments. This is not a series for Pride & Prejudice purists. By the time you get to this book, the characters don't resemble the originals at all. It's a really involving read, you really get enthralled with the crazy lives of the characters and want to know what is happening next, just don't hang onto P&P when you're reading this series. It's a good series over all.

I really liked this book. The plot is very interesting, the characters well developed, interesting and likeable. I really enjoyed Ms. Altman's first book, in what seems to be a continuing saga, but was very disappointed in the second. She has redeemed herself with Mr. Darcy's Great Escape and I look forward to the next book in the saga.
