It is fall and juicy things are growing in Mr. Putter’s backyard--apples, tomatoes, and pears. Mr. Putter dreams of all the juicy things he loves to eat, but most of all, he dreams of pear jelly. There’s only one problem--cranky legs keep him from climbing up to pick the pears. His ingenious solution will have young readers cheering him on.

This was my absolute favorite book as a little girl, and now that I'm going to have a child of my own, I can't wait to share Mr. Putter and Tabby's enchanting, funny little story. And juicy tomatoes, apples, and pears! Yum!

This story is hilarious! I read it to my second grade class and we laughed out loud the entire time. I highly recommend this story to everybody. Zing!

I heartily recommend reading about the adventures Mr. Putter and his sweet, orange-striped cat Tabby have during the course of their day. Mr. Putter loves Fall due to ripe pears, which he makes into pear jelly. He and Tabby decide to pick the fruit from the tree in his yard, but can't due to 'cranky legs, cranky knees and cranky feet'. Who can't relate to that problem? He thinks of an ingenious solution to get the pears, but it backfires. However, all is not lost!
