NEVER TRUST A ROGUE by Olivia Drake is a delightful historical romance set in Regency England. It is fast paced, page turning with depth and details. It is the second in An Heiress in London novel but can be read as a stand alone. Book One( Seducing the Heiress). It has romance, suspense, passion, sensuality, love, wit, adventure, and murder. The hero, Thane, is handsome, ex military,an earl, working with the Bow Street Runners to find a murderer, keeps hidden from everyone and sexy. The heroine,Lindsey, is beautiful, a heiress, curious, wishes to become a detective, and does not want to marry.Enter Thane, then things start to heat up between them. Thane quickly begins to be engrossed with Lindsey. When she seeks into his house, he catches her and blackmails her into a betrothal. Lindsey's mother has other ideas for she wants her middle daughter to marry a duke, no matter the consequences to her daughter. Lindsey is determined to get information on a series of murders commited on maidservants in the area. Keep her involvement with Thane a secret. Elude the man her mother wants her to marry. Lindsey know some of what he is and wants no part of the arrangement. Sparks fly between Thane and Lindsey. They soon realize their feelings for each other.Thane is always rescueing Lindsey from the clutches of the disgraceful Duke. Together, Lindsey and Thane find the real killer the Serpentine Strangler.I would highly recommend this book especially if you enjoy adventure, susense, sweet sensuality and romance. Heiress Miss Lindsey Crompton is happy for her sister Portia who has married her soul mate (see Seducing the Heiress). However, this also means that she is now under the glare of the money grubbers as the next wealthy target of the impoverished male aristocrats, which interferes with her desire to be sleuthing not dancing. During an investigation she conducts she runs into an Earl, war hero Thane Pallister who has become known recently for his womanizing. He conceals his work with the Bow Street Runners behind the façade of aristocratic arrogance as he seeks evidence against a killer who wants to marry Lindsey for her money and beauty but will have to cut out her brains. This is an exciting investigative historical romance starring two consummate professional detectives arguing, fussing, and fighting on their way to love. The opening wry commentary by Thane sets the table: "Females were nothing but trouble." However this particular female proves to be the epitome of trouble. Although Thane's motives for his inquiry are vague and he comes across as a Neanderthal, the match-up between two sleuths who each scorns the aristocracy makes for a wonderful nineteenth century romantic mystery. I was first attracted by the cover -- it made me want to climb into that carriage! This is part of a series, but I don't believe I have read the first one. I will look for it. I think this is Barbara Dawson Smith, one of my favorite authors, writing as Olivia Drake. This is a can't miss!

This is one of the those easy read cute regencys. The book was a good sequel to the first. I like Drakes corky wrighting! She pulls you in and before you know it your hooked. I was sad by the ending just as in the first. I honestly felt it was almost too quick? But one thing is for sure I still want to poke there mother in the eye. That women I swear! Read this it fun...:0)
