Now I am on the Nook HD. This tablet is the best for the money I spent. Barnes and Noble has made a mistake in it's marketing, though. They never showcased the Bluetooth connectivity! That is the best fataure, and I had no idea that the 7inch Tablet had it. Imagine my surprise when I was able to connect my bluetooth keyboard to the device with ease!
I've been able to chat with my friends using great Apps, and update Evernote anywhere I go easily, and quickly. This is the best product Barnes and Noble has come out with. It's an amazing little tablet for the money. Thank you, Barnes and Noble, for making such a quality product. Your loyal Barnes and Noble customer, Heather

Some are B&N website problems, I assume, not specifically Nook problems, but the competition has better solutions across the board.
a) The reader has refused 3 times to page forward, and once it refused to page forward OR back.
Paging is the SIMPLEST thing a reader should do, and it's disgraceful for Nook to fail at it.
b) The best font size I can find (third from right) is too small to avoid eye-strain.
c) The next size up is FAR TOO BIG.
d) Most of the font size choices are useless to any imaginable human being.
e) This text box on the website doesn't even work properly … since it doesn't allow carriage returns half the time.
f) Shopping is difficult because I can't focus a search on, for instance, apps until AFTER I've entered the search.
That means the website has to exhaustively search for "image comics" across all product types, THEN I can filter it to apps, and THEN I find that there are none.
That's backwards for me as a user, and backwards for B&N in terms of efficient searches.
g) When looking at "Nook recommendations", I can't mark those I already own or have no interest in.
Hence, it will take a long time for B&N to determine what I like … and that's very important.
Why didn't I see reviews like this before I bought the product, I wonder?
Will this review see the light of day?

I bought the Nook HD to replace my 1st Edition Nook. The screen
I bought the Nook HD to replace my 1st Edition Nook. The screen is fantastic, I was able to configure the screen to a light grey background that looks a bit like my old Nook and is very easy on the eyes. I was worried that having additional features would distract me from reading but haven't encountered that so far. It's really nice not to have to switch devices to check email or do a quick web search. It's very comfortable to hold. I bought one of the 360deg cases which works really well and doesn't add too much weight or get in the way of holding it comfortably to read.
Battery life has also been very good. I had one strange experience that the HD ran down very quickly after the second charge. It seemed to last about 1/2 as long as after the initial charge. I have not had a repeat of that however.
Cons:
(1) There are is a limited amount of apps available at this point. Some apps are listed online but are not yet available for the HD (I'm looking at you LoseIt!) I'm guessing this will improve over time. (2) The Comixology app will probably never be offered since book sales wouldn't happen on B&N, that's a shame. (3) I've had trouble viewing the screen in bright sunlight (which is why I'll keep my old Nook around just in case.) Over all I'm very happy with the purchase.96 out of 98 people found this review helpful.

Lovely tablet, but the complete lack of ability to sideload apps (without huge effort involving development tools) makes me sad, as it means I will likely have to choose a different small tablet option in the future.

I have a Nook Tablet and just purchased the Nook HD. I've had the HD for a week now and the screen is pretty awesome. It's going to take me a bit to get used to navigating it as it is set up differently from the Tablet but I think that will just take time. I was able to set it up in almost no time and everything from the Tablet loaded with no problems, including all the apps and games that I had.
Here's the thing about all of the Nook products- if you're looking for more apps and access to more movies and music get an iPad or another, similar device. The reason I purchased a Nook product in the first place is because I wanted an e-reader that I could watch Netflix or Hulu+ on without having to get a cellular data plan or spending a ton of money.
I have an iPad and like it as well, but comparing it to the Nook is a bit like comparing apples to oranges. Most of the negative reviews I've seen are easily fixed. If the sound is bad, get some headphones or a different case (I'm not a fan of the iPad's speakers either). If your device can't support something it should be able to, bring it into the store- one of the reasons I chose the Nook over the Kindle is because you can get an actual person at B&N to help if you bring it in.
All in all, the HD has a better screen, is lighter and faster than my Tablet. I'm pretty happy with it.6 out of 7 people found this review helpful.

I notice the reviews that were low on the rating scale were b/c of customer service issues, not with the device itself. Well the device is amazing and runs beautiful. I did some comparison with the Kindle HD and the kindle didnt compare...it runs slower, smaller e-book library and it doesnt have the an SD slot to add more storage like the Nook does. I also didnt have to pay to remove ads...with that I perfer the Nook!

Limited available apps for Nook is a downside... but other than that I kinda like it.
1440 x 900 pixel resolution is just monster graphic for reading E-books, Web surfing, Etc...
I just hope they would support more basic apps, especially comic viewer like perfect viewer on Google play perhaps?4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

I love the Nook HD. It replaced my first edition Nook, which still works great, and which my grandson could not wait to get his hands on. I plan on purchasing the Android for Nook so that more free apps are available. It can be loaded to an SD card so that the Nook warranty is not void.
Also, B&N offers a free book each Friday, which was easy to access on my first edition. I am still not able to find it on the Color HD. Does anyone know how to access?4 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

So far, I am enjoying my Nook HD very, very much. However, the system requires an updated to take care of some minor glitches. I've been lucky enough to not have to deal with Customer Service. Nevertheless, I have faith in Barnes and Noble and hope they'll continue upgrading this beautiful tablet.

I got the Nook Snow for Christmas because I wanted a tablet. However, I soon realized that the Nook HD is an excellent e-reader, but not so much as a tablet. The internet freezes at times and even crashes. The only app I use on my Nook HD is the crossword (I'm addicted to it!). If you're considering buying this, expect an e-reader. If you want a tablet, I'd go for the iPad or the Kindle Fire or something like that.

I received the Nook for Christmas as gift from my son and daughter. I like it alot. Only wish that I could get Apps from google store because they seem to have a bigger selection. I like the fact that it is small, but big enough to see the screen clearly, and reading on it is great. Also received great in store support!!! Even if you don't attend the classes, if you have a problem or concern, the staff will just help you. (That's great) I would recommend this product highly.

I love my Nook HD. I had the Nook 1st Edition and switched over just recently. There are a couple of things, however, that I would change. I actually prefer having my clock and battery power showing on the top of the Nook instead of being hidden, and I also like the way you could archive a book you had read easier on the 1st Edition. I am only giving it 4 stars because it is just not as easy to navigate as I had hoped.

Pleasantly suprised with what I can do with the Nook HD. I am using the Nook HD much more than I thought I would.
It is much more than just a reader. ......
Chrome browser is what I use on my laptop, so it was nice to see that Nook HD uses Chrome.

I have had a Nook Tablet since they came out. I just upgraded to the Nook HD. B&N improved some items and messed up some stuff they did good the first time. New and improved: The music player and email apps are much better than before. I love now having bluetooth. That was one of my "wished for" items on the tablet. The built in calendar is nice also. The catalog feature is one of my favorite new items. The screen is so crisp and clear. I don't have any kids, but the features to have multiple profiles is great. You can assign books etc to each child. My favorite features that stayed are the raised N button to go to the home screen. Sometimes when reaching for the Nook at night, I can tell which side I need to click due to the raised N. The power button and the volume button on the edges I prefer rather than having more touch screen buttons. Easy access to the most recent read book and quick settings are helpful.
My disappointments are this: One of the reasons I bought the Nook instead of the Kindle was the beveled edge around the screen which made it easier to hold. On the Tablet it was rubberized and had a good grip. On the Nook HD it is plastic. The back is rubberized. But it makes it look and feel cheap. My other big disappointment is the SD card slot. Hello???!!!!! Someone was having a bad day when they designed it. First it's hard to get the plastic cover off. Second it is cheap plastic and third it is hard to slide the card in and put the cover back. I much prefer how it was set up on the Nook Tablet. I use Netflix on my tablets. I compared the speaker for the Nook Tablet to the Nook HD while watching a Netflix show. I could barely hear the HD show compared to the Tablet. But when I used the HD for other sound options it was much louder. I don't understand. I checked all the settings. I will plug in speakers or use headphones.
All in all, I think the HD is a keeper. I loved my Nook Tablet and took it with me everywhere. I am handing it down to my sister who is not technical and will use it mostly for reading. I'm looking forward to using all the new stuff on the Nook HD.1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

I really love my new NOOK HD. I previously owned a NOOK Color and figured it was time to upgrade. I'm so glad I did. In comparison to the old NOOK Color the new HD is very light and more comfortable to hold. The sound quality is also much better. Of course, the screen is really good. I don't think it's the same quality as a full computer tablet, but the internet looks very crisp and sharp while browsing. I just can't see watching movie or anything like that. One thing I really enjoy about my new NOOK HD is it is much easier to read when sitting outside. Of course, you can't read it directly in the sun, but it's much easier to read when outside then my previous NOOK. Again, this was a great purchase and if you're looking for dedicated eReader that does a bit more then this is a winner. I love B&N. Support your local bookstore.

I'm overall very happy with my Nook HD, but am not impressed with the photo gallery! On your computer you can organize photos by album, event, etc, but on the Nook there is no way to do that, and no App to allow it either. Major thing to overlook by the Nook team. So close! Otherwise, pretty happy :-) But fix that!
