The Nook HD+ is an e-reader on steroids, packed with features like a stellar HD screen (beats out the Google Nexus, iPad Mini, Kindle Fire HD, etc), apps (10000 and counting!), expandable memory, HDMI compatible, 10 hour battery life, and it's one of the lightest 'tablets' on the market. But one thing needs to be clear, the Nook HD+ is an e-reader FIRST, tablet second, and it behaves that way. If you are purchasing this device expecting a full-featured Android OS, look elsewhere.
Lack of apps seems to be a major concern with some buyers, which isn't something that I've been bothered with since I'm not a huge app user. Angry Birds, Evernote, Hulu Plus and Open Explorer are my apps of choice, but it all depends on what YOU plan on using this device for. I can access my e-mail easily and the stock web browser does its job. Don't like the browser? No problem, hit up the app store and get the Dolphin browser or any of the countless other options available.
The Nook HD+ really shines for a few reasons. It's one of the only devices in its class with expandable memory, and due to its 'Retina-like' display, the screen is really super-sharp and the colors pop, perfect for, well, reading. Another reason is customer service. Because Barnes & Noble has actual brick and mortar stores, if you are having problems with your Nook, you don't have to call a customer service number, you can bring your device to your local Barnes & Noble and a Nook specialist is always on staff to help. Also, since it's one of the lightest devices in its class, it's easy and comfortable to hold with one hand. And while some people may say the build (specifically the back of the device) is 'plastic-ey', I find it stylish, plus it keeps it light and separates it from the endless black rectangles that now flood the tablet market.
I'm very happy with my Nook HD+, and those little extra features like being able to take it into a B&N store and be able to read ANY book for free on the device (even items that they don't actually have in stock) is a cool plus. I recommend it for any avid reader who wants a bit of color!

They also advertise the HD+ as being GREAT FOR FAMILIES because you can set up different users. So your spouse or kids can have their own accounts and their own books. I thought this would help because of the no-folders thing. Well, my daughter wanted an original Nancy Drew book (#8 in the series). Fine. But it didn't appear search results when we searched in her account. But it DID show up when we searched on my account. ?? Someone flagged most of the older Nancy Drew books as being adult content. Okay, fine. I removed the "kids only" restriction in her account. It STILL didn't appear in the search results. I called the store. They told me to just make an adult account for her. Err. This kind of defeats the purpose of setting up an account that will suggest the kinds of books she likes to read. Not to mention if she's an "adult" they can collect all her information aggressively.
And when I read the ten-page privacy policy, it said that they collect information on kids under 13, "so you should tell your kids not to write anything personally identifiable if they're using our online apps." Eek!
And don't even get me started on some ebooks being more expensive than actual books.

I bought a Nook HD+ today and might end up returning it tomorrow. The screen is great. No doubt about it. But everything else is not so hot. It's not user-friendly and there aren't many apps available. For me, the worst thing is that you can't create folders to organize your stuff. Well, you can CREATE them, but the Nook doesn't DISPLAY them. This has been problem for a while and they still haven't fixed it. ?!?!?!?!?

The Nook OS version is 2.02.
My Review:
Hardware: 8
Pro - nice overall hardware with great screen
Cons - proprietary data/HDMI port, wait for HDMI cables with hope of simultaneous charging, no duel band Wifi, Battery non-removable
Software: 2
Android OS is not 4.1 & no access to task manger, no DLNA, DIVX or SD Card MKV HD support. Browser SUCKs whatever it is, no Flash, no JAVA, and likes to freeze and not load sites that's not cookie friendly.
Freezing occurs after sleeping.
Multiple times the web browser has crashed and the only option is to restart the NOOK. Browser has no copy/paste/cut.
Cons - no store Apps or good software available yet. This tablet has no purpose other than an expensive Ereader with that its average.
The PDF Ereader also cuts a minimum of 1 & 1/2 inches off the screen. No full screen!

I like the size of the screen. It worked so well in the dark featuring the lighted screen. Not impressed with the short time on the battery I charged it in the A.M. and only played an hour or so on a game. Darn it had to recharge it again after I read for 2 hrs.. What??? My first knook s charge lastesd a very long time after reading for several days. Guess I should of passed on this item. Sorry- just being honest.

I bought my Nook Table HD+ about 3 weeks ago. The graphics and color are impressive. Reading on it is better than the Simple Touch . The problem I have is there is basically no support for the Tablet. Customer Support and Technical support don't really know much about this product. There are also very few apps available for it. The manual included with it doesn't agree with reality. It states there are widgets available and there are none. I have run into several other issues as well. I'm sure it will be a wonderful product in 3-6 months, but for now I would wait for them to work out the glitches and for their employees to be trained so there is support available if you need it.

Device is very nice, pics and video look great. Music app is an improvement. The issues I have is that flash does not work with the web browser and many of the apps I bought for my tablet and color do not work on the HD+. Which is very poor business if you ask me, keep your customers happy, not make them frustrated cause they can't play their favorite games anymore. Considered returning it, but am going to wait it out for a bit to see if B&N wakes up.

I'm very disappointed in the Nook HD+. The touch screen is sluggish. Sometimes requiring 3 or 4 tries. I have the nook 7" tablet, and the touch screen is very responsive. I'm returning the HD+ and keeping my 7"tablet until the HD+ has been updated a little. I do like the size of the screen, and the colors are beautiful, particularly with the HD. But, for my money, I'm sticking with the 7".

The Words with Friends App cost $2.99....(very few of the entertaining games are free)....the latest version features ads after every word play. Very disappointing as they cause the screen to freeze. Load a live wallpaper app and it doesn't not work....they nickel and dime you for everything and it doesn't even WORK properly.
I've had this tablet a week and am considering returning it, as the apps have a lot of problems and the battery life is much lower than I was told at the store. it goes about 4 hours... nice screen graphics though.8 out of 15 people found this review helpful.

My husband originally purchased a Kindle HD for me which I returned to purchase the Nook HD+ because I am a long time Barnes and Noble customer. Within a month of having the device I started having issues with my Cosmopolitan subscription. Every time I open the magazine I get kicked out or the pages do not fully load. I contacted customer service numerous times half the time I got stuck with rude reps that had no clue what they were doing. They even sent me a brand new device which still has the same issues. It seems to be that the issue is from the magazines end but yet here we are weeks later and I still have no solution, makes me think I should of kept the kindle. The Nook HD+ plus offers a scrapbook feature as well which apparently only works on a few magazines. I expected more from this device, and I definitely expected more from the Barnes and Nobles customer service reps. I also think its about time that Barnes and Noble members can use their Barnes and Noble member card on Nook products.

I received a Nook HD+ for Christmas. I have charged it today and have tried in vain to get Nook to recognize my password. I went to customer support and they were not able to help me at all and terminated the live chat! I'm going to take it back tomorrow and may ask for my money back. I already have the first nook wifi and then the nook color tablet. No trouble with either of them.

I purchased the HD+ this past Saturday and have not been able to use it more than a couple of minutes before it returns to the start up screen. I have been very frustrated with it so far. I have a Nook tablet and have no problems with it. I had been holding out buying a new tablet product but when the promotion came out and the Google software i decided to purchase the HD+. I will be returning to the store to exchange it. I will give it one more try before i tell B&N to keep it .

While I do like having access to more apps I don' t like the new browser. No home page and you can no longer use the article view. Plus now it won't stay in desktop mode. You can't watch youtube videos in desktop mode because there is no supported flash player and if you try to watch them in mobile mode a lot of them won't play because they aren't optimized for mobile viewing. Before the uptate I would have given it a 4 but now I have to give it a 2 .

I bought my Nook HD+ with the intention of having an affordable tablet to browse the internet and check emails. An added plus was the eReader and that My wife and Daughter could share books. As an eReader and for games it is does fine. The screen is beautiful and that was a big seller for me. What I got was a disappointment to technically. It's touch screen is temperamental. There are times that it won’t Scroll or select, and sometimes selects something else. Email allows no way to organize or save your emails which is not an issue because you can't print anything so no need to save them on the Nook. If I use my providers webmail, Google maps, or Amazon the browser crashes. Not sure why they located the power button on the right side and not the top I am constantly turning it off since I am right handed.
Apps are a disappointment as well. They are all geared for kids and games. Trying to search for an app that might let me print I get a handful of apps and the rest are books. This is obviously an eReader first and a tablet as an after thought.
I read a review that someone said that they liked the Nook over their iPad. I have an iPhone and I don’t see it. I could read books, check email, and browse the web but the screen is to small. Should have bought an iPad.3 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

I am very disappointed in the HD+. I upgraded from the Nook Tabl
I am very disappointed in the HD+. I upgraded from the Nook Tablet and I actually like my Nook Tablet better. I purchased the upgrade for the HD technology and the bluetooth technology because I like listening to music videos. The HD quality screen is superb and I do love that feature. The bluetooth technology doesn't work properly. It will pair your headphones nicely for the first use. When you stop the first session and go back to use your headphones the next time, it shows the Nook is paired with the headphones, but nothing works. I went to the store and we duplicated the problem on the Store display device. So, what I have to do is delete my headphones and repair them each time I use them. I have been told by support that the fix for this problem is under consideration. What?! Are you kidding me Barnes and Noble?!! Your bluetooth technology doesn't work properly and you are only considering fixing it? Unbelievable and unacceptable!!! If you are going to sell bluetooth technology, you should make sure it works properly on your devices or don't sell it at all! I also have the same problem as another review reveals in that the touch screen on the right side of the screen is very sluggish and doesn't always turn the page as it should. I didn't have this problem on my previous tablet. Sometimes I have to swipe across my screen to get to the next page. I also find the touch screen to not be responsive in other areas of the screen when I'm on the web. Very frustrating! When I purchased the upgrade, I didn't expect to have these types of problems. I was expecting a better experience with more bells and whistles. It looks like this was released without proper testing. I purchased the 32 Gb tablet and I am finding out that I don't have 32 gb of space available to me on the tablet itself. What's up with that? I am told they can reformat at the store to give me an extra 8gb. But I purchased 32 gb of space, Barnes and Noble!!! I feel like I have been royally ripped off! The true space that I get is when I add my micro SD card. I'm sorry B&N but you are missing the boat in a lot of areas! In addition to reading, I like to listen to my music and music videos with my device. I need the storage space on my device that I purchased! In addition, I like using my Bible app at church and it also doesn't work! My old tablet had no problem whatsoever with this application; but it won't pull up at all on this tablet unless I connected to wifi. It wasn't needed on my old tablet. I don't know what the deal is on this tablet. I paid a lot of money for a less superior device. As I said, I am truly disappointed and I feel that I have no hope to see the problems fixed! I am considering writing the executives of this company to make sure they know of the problems with their new device. I have never done taken this type of measure before, but this is too much money wasted to ignore.

I currently own the Nook Color and Nook Tablet, but I really did want this device, to watch movies and tv shows,
but after viewing videos of it's competition; not so sure anymore. The competition offers 4 speakers.
Nook HD+ only offers 1 speaker; which means the sound is garbage. (would have to use earphones, all of the time).
Another issue is, why would they install 2 speakers on the Nook HD,, but not on the Nook HD+???
The second, thing is, the competition offers "audio books". Nook only offers this feature for children's books.
And lastly, the customer service, is the worst ! I tried several times to inquire about these issues, via the
800# and chat and they simply put me on hold for long periods of time or end the chat..3 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

I hate it....Absolutely hate it and would have done good to read Anonymous from nov 2012 posting first. It is not user or family friendly. SMDH!!!
For one person/indivdual it may be okay, but I do not like the information collection, the fact that we all can activate each others accounts, I cannot figure out how everything keeps bookmarking and saving (and I do not know how to erase/cut once added). What is the purpose of having a child account if they can activate mine by pushing a button, and why would I want to share a tablet that my children have acess to m y card number and can purchase freely without my permission. NOPE. It is going back. The children love it, and the size of the screen. I Love the liil Glowlight nook I purchased for reading, and I am going to stick with it. This HD Plus......Well, it is NOT for me!!!!!
And don't even get me started on some ebooks being more expensive than actual books. Not User Friendly and there aren't many apps available. I will be returning mine!!!
My Galaxy will work just fine and the children can use the Desktop, laptops, ipods or their phones!!!3 out of 5 people found this review helpful.
