While I have a love for reading I have never been a fan of the mystery genre so this was the first that pulled me in from the very begining and kept my interest throughout. I thought the characters were great, amusing and fun. I loved the humor throughout the book and found myself laughing out loud on many occassions. I couldn't put the book down. So if you are looking to get away from a day or week of stress, I highly recommend this book for it's ease of reading and pleasure in between. Very well done. Can't wait to read the sequel.

Sophie Katz is such a typical and yet unusual character that I was captivated from the beginning. Sophie is exotic - half black, half Jewish of Eastern European descent - a mystery writer with friends that match - a gay hairdresser, a best friend who owns and operates a sex toy shop and has both a wannabe vampire boyfriend and a sister as pure as the driven snow, add a mother and sister so self-centered that they are only upset when they aren't the first contact when Sophie is in danger (not worried that she's in danger) and you have a combination that amuses and entertains. At the beginning if this entertaining cozy mystery, Sophie realizes that people she knows, or has had contact with are being murdered and the crime scenes are exactly as he describes in one of her books. The police don't believe her, especially when she tries to convince them that she is the next target of the killer. The ensuing mayhem keeps the reader turning the pages to see what other havoc Sophie can wreak. A fun cozy and series I will definitely continue.

Loved this book!  It was a fun and humorous read, with perfect characters and just the right amount of extra info needed to put the reader in line with what was happening in the storyline.  I really like the writing style of Ms. Davis, and I'm looking forward to reading the 2nd "Sophie" book.

Sex, Murder, and a Double Latte is a fast-pace, easy read... perfect for summer. The characters are lovable and the twists keep you on your toes. I'd definitely recommend to anyone looking for a mystery with some humor and a little romance all mixed into one story that makes me anxious to get the second book of the series.
