Very good intro to meditation method without getting too metaphysical ( that can come later ). Short and to the point.

As a practitioner of Soto Zen Meditation for many years I frequently look at what is being written and this book is amazing. In short, the book itself is Zen. This is the most clear, succinct definition of meditation, Zen and Buddhism I have ever read. This is a very short book yet it contains everyting you need to understand Zen and meditation. There is scarcely an unneeded word. My only caveat is that for me there are too many photos of people meditating. The rest is Zen.

Oversimplified and without "meat". Given that it was written awhile ago, and Zen Meditation was not even on the fringe of acceptance in general society, this treads the safe path to introduction, wihtout givning the reader any real idea of what, how or why.
