I gave this book an earnest try, but halfway through I finally gave up on it. It seems as if every third page is an information drop; as a result, I found it very difficult to care about the characters. Subtlety is nonexistent as well. I felt inundated with painfully detailed minutia, and the inevitable skimming became the norm rather than the exception. Perhaps some may enjoy this style, I don't know. It definitely didn't work for me. I gave the book 3 stars instead of 1 because the book may have limped along at a snail's pace for the reasons above, but the author was grammatically correct, a decent speller, and obviously spent a lot of time developing background for his world. Just too MUCH of it!!
