A surprising and very personal biography of a woman who may be the world's last great queen, published to coincide with the sixtieth anniversary of her reign

Elizabeth II, one of England's longest-reigning monarchs, is an enigma. In public, she confines herself to optimistic pieties and guarded smiles; in private, she is wry, funny, and an excellent mimic.

An easy book to read because there is no scandal here. Queen Elizabeth is one of the smartest, understated women around. We can surmise from common sense there have been difficult moments for her; the death of her father, sister and Diana. She appears to handle everything with her own sense of direction and style; from politics, family drama to personal responsibility Queen Elizabeth is on track to set the record for the longest living monarch in England's history. She will do it her way and has a long list of people who admire her. I now feel I have a more complete understanding of what Queen Elizabeth does-her routine is extraordinary for her age, who she is-appears to have a great sense of humor and what her world must be like constantly in the spotlight. The book includes relevant pictures and index.

Why in the world would I pay $17 to read about some one that I have no interest in. These people belong in the 18th or 19th century. What is the purpose of all those royals. All I know is that I am glad we don't have them in our country. I would rather give that money to charity.
