The Tangled Web written by Kathryn Reiss is an American Girl mystery about Julie Albright, an American Girl, or AG, historical character growing up in the 1970's. Julie's parents are divorced, so most of the time, on school days, basically, Julie lives with her mom and older sister, Tracy. On weekends, Julie lives with her dad. In general, Julie lives in different places of San Francisco when she switches places back and forth. There is a new girl at Julie's school, and her name is Carla Warner. Julie and her other school friends become friends with Carla, and Carla starts to tell Julie stories about her family. Carla says her family is rich, and some of her family members are spies/secret agents. Carla says she helps out, by spying on a woman named Barb, who is supposedly a criminal. Carla even shows Julie, and her best friend, Ivy her ground house, or "Painted Lady", but for some reason, begs them to leave when a man comes to the house. When Julie's dad take her and Ivy to the farmer's market, they see Carla working at a stand with Barb, and sees Barb point a knife at her. Carla also doesn't have as many items for luch as Julie and her friends do at school. Julie and Ivy are starting to worry for Carla, and think that Carla might be in grave danger. Julie is determined to help and protect her friend, and tries to find ansers, but as she searches for answers, the mystery only seems to get deeper, and Julie has more questions than ever. This mystery is a great book that you just can't put down, until you have finished the entire story. Four stars to Kathryn Reiss for a great story to curl up on the couch and read. Not only will this mystery keep you mystified, and keep guessing for the answers, it will also warm your heart for this book takes place a the time of Thyanksgiving. Julie and her mother and Tracy are even going to host a Thanksgiving party! When you have finished the book, it will make you realize the importance of family, hope, forgiveness, friendship, and giving thanks. This mystery greatly warmed my heart, and I hope it is the same for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved the book! Tells a great story of friendship and gives a lesson on telling the truth. A lot of parts got me on the edge of my seat!!!!
