The overall of this book was really good. I liked the explanation of all the characters the author gave. I would recommend this book to fiction lovers. Some of the characters really tie into the book, like Ivar, the creature that teaches Timothy how to fight hand-to-hand. Timothy throughout the story learns that he has powers but not of the same kind. I would recommend buying the whole series.

As a children's bookseller, I read a lot to find good children's books to recommend, especially for boys. This book is full of the stuff kids look for: adventure, suspense, courage, bravery. Timothy is fantasy's Leonardo da Vinci. He makes a great hero...resourceful, likeable, not perfect, but striving to do right and to protect his friends. The authors do a great job of making him an interesting, believable hero. Outcast will be on my list to recommend.
